JUNE 27, 2023 GREATER SACRAMENTO AREA, CA – Inland Surf Company LLC announced today the project site for Alchemy Surf Park has been conditionally secured with the development group Taylor Builders. The project site location has also been identified as consisting of 20 acres in the Campus Park District of the highly anticipated, master-planned development, Placer One coming to Placer County in Northern California.

ABOUT PLACER ONE – A partnership of Placer County, California State University, Sacramento, Sierra College and Taylor Builders – Placer One is a distinctive master planned community located in South Placer County’s Sunset Area. The community features a major employment center, town center, university, expansive parks, and natural open space that will be connected by an extensive bikeway network to new large-scale job-generating facilities, shopping and dining districts, and diverse residential neighborhoods. Placer One’s high-quality services and amenities are thoughtfully designed to support the future population that the new employment center and university will bring to South Placer.

Placer One’s balanced land use mix will be a catalyst for development of the entire Sunset Area. The Campus Park Employment Center, which covers approximately 335 acres, will be home to a diverse mix of jobs and industry. Placer One also includes a 300-acre site for development of the new Sacramento State Placer Campus and Sierra College extension. Additionally, Placer One’s 200-acre Town Center will include retail establishments, office spaces, and apartment/loft-style housing.

Clifton Taylor, president of Taylor Builders notes…

Placer One and the new campus will be an economic catalyst for Placer County and the greater Sacramento region. I personally believe it could be the most important economic driver in the region, and we’re going to work very hard to make that a reality.”

At buildout, Placer One is planned to accommodate 5,636 residential units, including single-family detached and multifamily attached units, age-restricted neighborhoods, and mixed-use facilities within the Town Center.

During a groundbreaking ceremony in 2021, Sacramento State President Robert S. Nelsen told reporters… (source)

“This will be a place of innovation, a place that is transformative, where our students will be able to call home,” Nelsen said.
The comment aligns perfectly with the unique and innovative vision Inland Surf Company seeks to bring to the Placer One project through Alchemy Surf Park and the transformative effect (alchemy) the project will have on the region. The company now enters into the due diligence phase of the project followed by the seed-funding, design, and entitlement phases. With vested support from Placer County combined with the adoption of specific plans for Placer One and the Sunset Area – the regulatory framework for development is now in place and the team, county, and community are excited about making waves in Placer County soon.

A groundbreaking ceremony Friday, Oct. 21, 2022 marked the beginning of infrastructure work for Placer One, a new community in Placer County that will be the site of a Sacramento State campus, Placer Center, and a Sierra College Transfer Center. Construction on the first home is scheduled to begin in early 2024. (Sacramento State/Rob Neep)

At a recent project update presented by Taylor Builders and hosted at Sierra College, the masterplan developer also noted the 1st Phase of infrastructure has commenced construction along with a major multi-phase regional sewer improvement project that will activate both Placer One and the Sunset Area Plan.

Anton Garcia of Taylor Builders also provided us with this quote…

“Placer One is a result of multi-faceted partnerships that will undoubtedly bring significant economic growth to our region. The commitments made by CSU Sacramento, Sierra College, County of Placer, and now Inland Surf Company to play a significant role in Placer One’s development demonstrate that Placer County continues to be a destination for higher education, coveted businesses, and those looking to call Placer County home.

Chris Gallardo, Founder & CEO of Inland Surf Company had this to say…

“The vision for this Master Planned project is impressive and provides many unique advantages to our surf project. The future built-in customer base of Placer One and the new University combined with the proximity to existing residential catchments in the region allow us to put the local communities first. It’s my belief that for a surf park to provide real impact and truly be sustainable for years to come, it must be able to thrive off the local population first – not just the surf tourism market.”

Special thanks to Jon Wilcox and Jason Goff from CBRE for their help identifying this incredible opportunity and negotiating the sales agreement with the developer.

Stay tuned for more announcements and updates coming soon!
