How the project Benefits the Community

Alchemy Surf Park will foster social engagement, promote a healthy lifestyle, and serve as an inclusive, multigenerational gathering place; all leading to a happier and healthier community. The project also has the potential to help the Placer County advance several General Plan goals while generating municipal revenues that can be used to provide a wide range of improvements and services to local residents.

Sales Tax Revenue

The balance between commercial land-use and other designated land-use is critical to the longterm success of Placer County. Our project focuses largely on the commercial element by providing affordable access to a highly desired list of activities while creating a sustainable ecosystem of ancillary services. The sales-tax revenue generated from the project and the additional economic-impact provided will help Placer County thrive for generations to come.

Transiency Occupancy Tax

Surfing is a global activity that attracts people from all corners of the world and will create impressive tourism for our region. Our vision is to offer a mix of lodging options that cater to a variety of travelers while creating compelling guest experiences and concepts that bring personality and coherence to the property. These options include a boutique hotel overlooking the surf lagoon and a modern cabin village. The Transient Occupancy Tax generated from our lodging options will have a positive effect and significant impact on the county and residents.

Local Jobs and Increased Property Value

Alchemy Surf Park will create over 200 jobs during the construction phase and nearly 100 new jobs when full operations begin. The opportunities generated by the project will not only create new jobs in the region but will also boost the local economy in significant and measurable ways. Some of the jobs offered will be in the following departments; Surf Operations, General Operations, Management, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Water Treatment, Marketing, and Maintenance. Along with new jobs, recent reports show that the addition of a surf lagoon to a development or community can dramatically increase adjacent property values.

Placemaking and Social Engagement

Placemaking is an economic development strategy with the intention of creating public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being. All of these factors are considered crucial to an area’s economic growth. Our placemaking strategy will focus largely on these factors and seek to utilize arts and culture to improve the sense of community and belonging to a place. The potential for placemaking also present opportunities to highlight the unique character and history of Placer County for generations to come. Through placemaking the Alchemy Surf Park will foster social engagement, promote a healthy lifestyle, and serve as an inclusive, multigenerational gathering place.

Improved Quality of Life

Standard indicators of the quality of life include wealth, employment, the environment, physical and mental health, education, recreation and leisure time, social belonging, religious beliefs, safety, security and freedom. Alchemy Surf Park will have the opportunity to improve all of these indicators within Placer County and beyond. The physical and mental health benefits derived from surfing are well-documented and have been shown to improve the function of your heart, lungs, and respiratory system. Increased mood, improved balance, and better sleep are additional positive side-effects users can expect from surfing. The family-orientated environment we seek to create combined with recreation and entertainment opportunities will have a profound impact on the quality of life in Placer County.

Sustainability and Preservation

Surfers have always been stewards of the environment and our sustainability concept carries-on this important tradition. Alchemy Surf Park will be carefully designed to blend into the natural setting as much as possible requiring minimal civil-engineering work and causing the least possible visual and auditory effect on the surrounding environment. The project also has the potential to be powered by renewable energy sources with the ultimate goal of being completely carbon neutral. The preservation of open space at the project-site is an added goal the project seeks to deliver.

Our Next Steps

Placer County Planning and Economic Development

We’re excited to present our project and vision to the ~~Placer County Planning~~ and ~~Economic Development teams~~. Our goal is to gain overwhelming support of the project so we can confidently enter the next phase.

Feasibility and Due Diligence

With hopeful green-lights from Placer County Planning, Economic Development, and additional stakeholders the next step is the feasibility and due diligence phase.

Community Outreach and Design Workshop

During the community outreach phase we will conduct a design review workshop to engage the neighboring residents. We'll present the project to the public and listen to the desires and potential concerns of the local population.

Submit Project Application

With Planning, Feasibility, Community Outreach, and Design Workshop completed - our team will submit the official project application to the county for review.
